    NIHR InternshipsThe Health Education England (HEE) and National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Integrated Clinical Academic (ICA) Programme provides research training awards for healthcare professionals, excluding doctors and dentists, who wish to develop careers that combine clinical research and research leadership with continued clinical practice and professional development.

    Internships are short duration awards for individuals with little or no research experience. Internships deliver a range of taught and academically supervised components that engage and expose you to a clinical academic research environment. As an intern, you will develop the practical skills required to undertake a research project or to develop a project idea, supported by an expert supervisor.

    NIHR Pre-Doctoral Clinical Academic FellowshipThe Health Education England (HEE) and National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Integrated Clinical Academic (ICA) Programme provides research training awards for healthcare professionals, excluding doctors and dentists, who wish to develop careers that combine clinical research and research leadership with continued clinical practice and professional development.

    The Pre-doctoral Clinical Academic Fellowships (PCAF) fund personalised programmes of academic training that equip awardees with the skills and experience to access doctoral-level funding, and give dedicated time to prepare an application for a competitive, peer-reviewed doctoral level research training fellowship.

    The Clinical Doctoral Research Fellowship (CDRF) scheme funds registered healthcare professionals to undertake a PhD by research and, concurrently, to undertake further professional development and clinical practice.

It is recommend that team members leading and delivering research complete, as a minimum, complete the Introduction to Good Clinical Practice course.

    This eLearning course is available through the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR). This NIHR course is free and available to NHS, UK universities, and other publicly funded organisations conducting and supporting clinical research. You can access GCP courses via our learning platform NIHR Learn.

    PenARC - Patient and Public Involvement Advice Clinic The South West Peninsular Applied Research Collaboration (PenARC) holds monthly Patient and Public Involvement (PPI) advice Clinics. They deal with enquires from finding out more about Patient and Public Involvement to creating a PPI strategy for a research bid, you can speak to one of their researchers for advice (often held in Exeter).
